Myth Blaster: GE Wisconsin Moving To China

Joan B. of Illinois sent the following email that Snopeshas researched as TRUE. …
Suggestion to the US government: Get rid of income tax, replace it with a flat rate consumption tax where NO one gets a free ride and everyone pays according to what they can spend. It’s called FairTax and it has been on the books as a bill presentation since 2002. I know the government is slow, unless IRS is after you – but citizens of America, don’t ask, insist that the 16th Amendment be repealed and replaced with the FairTax system! Presently the government, in charge of our education system, is ramming Spanish down our throats instead of insisting that English be the official language – soon they will be insisting that Chinese be a preferred (only one available, thus no choice – being as colleges require a minimum of two years foreign language).
Why don’t they just give our country to the highest bidder?

My deepest sympathy to the fellow Americans in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Maybe this is an incentive to start making the government pay attention to the constitutional meaning of limited government and the fair tax system — and be more careful who you vote for. Here is the email entry received:
____________
General Electric Keep your eye on Waukesha, Wisconsin……Their biggest employer just moved out.
Thanks Jeff, you’re a “real” American….give Barack our Best !!

General Electric is planning to move its 115-year-old X-ray division from Waukesha, Wis., to Beijing. In addition to moving the headquarters,
the company will invest $2 billion in China and train more than 65 engineers and create six research centers. This is the same GE that made $5.1 billion in the United States last year. but paid no taxes-the same company that employs more people overseas than it does in the united States.
So let me get this straight. President Obama appointed GE Chairman Jeff Immelt to head his commission on job creation (job czar). Immelt is supposed to help create jobs. I guess the President forgot to tell him in which country he was supposed to be creating those jobs.
If this doesn’t show you the total lack of leadership of this President, I don’t know what does. Please pass this information to others and think about it before you buy a GE product.

…or vote for Obama again.

Well said, Mr. Lehman!I enjoy your website very much. It's refreshing to read insightful and erudite commentary on a variety of subjects. My mother's ancestors were Lehmans from Lachen/Speyerdorf in the Pfalz region of SW Germany. Any of your Lehmans from Virginia? My e-mail is jnull3@neo.rr.com.s

  2. Thanks for the accolades. i suggest that you send comments with your first name or at least a "handle" because when there are several "anonymous" or person with same first name in the comments it can be confusing as to who is who and who I am addressing.I sent you an email discussing the Lehman generation of my family. My great grandparents arrived here from Germany just before World War I and my grandfather served in that war. German was still spoken around the house and with great grandparents, but my father was not very proficient in the German language. He served in WWII in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater. Welcome to the website and hope you become a regular reader. Check out the other websites I mentioned in the email.Best Wishes to an ancestor (at some point in history).
