did not initiate the present anti-Christian persecution, but he certainly has extended its scope in several ways. He has forced religious institutions to provide birth-control coverage for their employees, against certain religious doctrines. Now he and his liberal watchdogs have created such a furor that a pastor has cancelled an invitation of benediction at his second inaugural ceremony. The fury is over the pastor preaching
a sermon that homosexuality is a sin – 20 years ago.
The Atlanta pastor is Louie Giglio
who stated two decades ago in a sermon:
…only way out of a homosexual lifestyle … is through the healing power of Jesus.
Effectively, the pastor was disinvited because he believes that homosexuality is not only unnatural, but it is a sin. Here is a statement from Addie Whisenant of the Presidential Inaugural Committee, which is sort of an apology for inviting the pastor, also a CMA [Cover My Arse]statement:
We were not aware of Pastor Giglio’s past comments at the time of his selection, and they don’t reflect our desire to celebrate the strength and diversity of our country at this inaugural. Pastor Giglio was asked to deliver the benediction in large part because of his leadership in combating human trafficking around the world. As we now work to select someone to deliver the benediction, we will ensure their beliefs reflect this administration’s vision of inclusion and acceptance for all Americans.
The imbroglio over Louie Giglio is the clearest evidence of the new Moral McCarthyism of our sexually “tolerant” age. During the infamous McCarthy hearings, witnesses would be asked, “Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?” …
Louie Giglio, pastor of Atlanta’s Passion City Church, is also founder of the Passion movement that brings tens of thousands of Christian young people together to hear Giglio, along with speakers such as John Piper. They urge a rising generation of young Christians to make a passionate commitment to Christ. In recent years, the movement has also sought to raise awareness and activism among young Christians on the issue of sex trafficking. It was that activism that caught the attention of both President Obama and the Presidential Inaugural Committee. … Pastor Giglio has strategically avoided any confrontation with the issue of homosexuality for at least 15 years. …
The Presidential Inaugural Committee and the White House have now declared historic, biblical Christianity to be out of bounds, casting it off the inaugural program as an embarrassment. By its newly articulated standard, any preacher who holds to the faith of the church for the last 2,000 years is persona non grata. By this standard, no Roman Catholic prelate or priest can participate in the ceremony. No Evangelical who holds to biblical orthodoxy is welcome. The vast majority of Christians around the world have been disinvited. Mormons, and the rabbis of Orthodox Judaism are out. Any Muslim imam who could walk freely in Cairo would be denied a place on the inaugural program. Billy Graham, who participated in at least ten presidential inaugurations, is welcome no more. Rick Warren, who incited a similar controversy when he prayed at President Obama’s first inauguration, is way out of bounds. In the span of just four years, the rules are fully changed.
The liberals constantly point out the rights and liberties provided by the First Amendment, while constantly trying to superimpose or destroy the Second Amendment rights. Liberals are against the death penalty and claim that firearms must be out of the hands of all citizens in order to save lives – yet they are killing hundreds of thousands of pre-born infants in a production-line basis, all the while destroying moral responsibility in that and other virtues that maintain a healthy society.
It is imperative that Giglio clarify his remarks and explain whether he has evolved on gay rights, like so many other faith and political leaders. It would be a shame to select a preacher with backward views on LBGT people at a moment when the nation is rapidly moving forward on our issues.
My question is: Was any Muslim clerics invited to the inauguration ceremony? And if so, do they realize that Islamic law requires that homosexuals be put to death? Christian doctrine does not provide such drastic measures, but instead they either condemn their lifestyle or try to convince the person to repent from such unnatural behavior – or a combination of both. Main thing is that Christian theology or doctrine does not require that a homosexual be condemned to death.
If there are Muslim clerics or Muslims at the inaugural – did they get harassed and publicly embarrassed for present or past issues concerning homosexuality?
Mr. Besen seems to be correct, in a way, concerning the name of his movement – Truth Wins Out
– because the truth is that liberals, progressives or whatever they choose to call themselves are complete and unadulterated hypocrites. They have the “Do as I Say, Not as I Do” syndrome. As Ronald Reagan
wrote and stated:
We establish no religion in this country, nor will we ever. We command no worship. We mandate no belief. But we poison our society when we remove its theological underpinnings. We court corruption when we leave it bereft of belief. All are free to believe or not believe; all are free to practice a faith or not. But those who believe must be free to speak of and act on their belief.
There is a natural law that is beyond any religious law, and in either case, homosexuality is considered unnatural. Whether We the People believe it be a sin or not, those that do should not be forced to accept something they feel will injure their souls – for that is what gets hurt or stained, the soul, which each of us are in charge of our own to nurture and maintain. For those who believe nothing, atheists, therefore, death is final in each individual life with no consideration of a soul – they have a right to believe this as well. Because a Christian feels it is his or her responsibility to be a missionary and speak to those that would listen is also a right; yet they are condemned when they do so within the walls of their churches and to their congregation. If any condemnation should be made, it should be made against those churches that preach hatefulness and bigotry like the church that BH Obama attended for twenty years in Chicago. After Obama had claimed the pastor of that church, who preached hate and bias, condemning his own country, was his mentor, the Obama media immediately suppressed the whole thing instead of condemning it.
Hypocrisy is one of the worst forms of lying in terms of self-damage, for they are not just lying to others but to themselves. Yes, Mr. Besen – “Truth Wins Out”. When are you going to face it?
was carried out too far, mostly the so-called Un-American Activities
congressional committee; however, it clearly showed that the communists sent here by Joe Stalin
and others of the Soviet Union had indeed infiltrated our government, including trade unions and Hollywood.
