– Washington [Reuters/AP] …. President Obama fired IRS top official yesterday over improper targeting of conservative groups for special scrutiny during three congressional probes of the IRS in progress. Obama ordered Jack Lew, Treasury Secretary to demand the resignation of Stephen Miller, IRS commissioner. Obama was quoted saying:
I’ll do everything in my power to make sure nothing like this happens again by holding the responsible parties accountable, (and) by putting in place new checks and new safeguards. … Americans are right to be angry about it, and I am angry about it. I will not tolerate this kind of behavior in any agency, but especially in the IRS, given the power that it has and the reach that it has into all of our lives.
So, Mr. President, why have you not been as zealous toward tax reform by getting rid of the IRS and turning it into a small tax accounting department, as zealous as when you pushed Obamacare? No government agency should have the power that the IRS has and no agency should be so intrusive upon the individual lives of its citizens. For a long time a solution has been presented, the Fair Tax Act, but both sides of the political aisle have ignored it – despite extensive research in the feasibility of the proposed tax system. The IRS problem has been ongoing for two years and one year ago the Obama administration stated there was no problem with the IRS. Now that evidence has mounted in investigating the American Gestapo tax agency, Obama does something. The IRS, as the income tax system, must go into the garbage bin of history. Some Democrats are also outraged over the IRS actions, but have not chastised the president; but instead commented, like Sander Levin, stating it was a vital first step in achieving accountability. Investigators on the case are also looking to see if the IRS was given direct or indirect approval of such actions from the Oval Office.
We appreciate the DOJ’s prompt response, but it does not adequately address our concerns. The letter simply restates the law and claims that officials complied with it. … Rather than talk to us in advance, they seized these phone records in secret, saying that notifying us would compromise their investigation. They offer no explanation … Instead they captured the telephone numbers between scores of AP journalists and the many people they talk to in the normal business of gathering news. …they say this secrecy is important for national security. It is always difficult to respond to that, particularly since they still haven’t told us specifically what they are investigating. We believe it is related to AP’s May 2012 reporting that the U.S. government had foiled a plot to put a bomb on an airliner to the United States. We held that story until the government assured us that the national security concerns had passed. … The White House had said there was no credible threat to the American people in May of 2012. The AP story suggested otherwise … AP is asking the DOJ for an immediate explanation of the extraordinary action and for the records to be returned to AP and all copies destroyed. AP President and CEO Garry Pruitt protested the massive intrusion into AP’s newsgathering activities in a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder on Monday, May 13. … We regard this action by the Department of Justice as a serious interference with AP’s constitutional rights to gather and report the news.
Indeed. Eric Holder is infamous for not following the rule of law and after a scandal that costs lives, he remains the Attorney General. What could one expect from someone who requests that our children be indoctrinated [brainwashed] with government directed propaganda. Obama is just as guilty for not firing or telling Holder to resign after first scandal.
Contemplate this: The IRS will be overseeing Obamacare – furthering its power that Obama admitted it has. Unconstitutional power that Obama failed to mention.
