Peter King was born on April 5th, 1944, and is a Republican US Representative for the 3rd Congressional District of New York state. He is a member of the Homeland Security Committee, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and serves on the Financial Services Committee. King is considered to be a “moderate”, which means he swings from GOP establishment policies to siding with the Democrats in Congress.
King voted for the 2008 Wall Street bailout, stating it was:
…necessary for the financial health of New York and his district.
In 2006 and 2008, King was endorsed by the Brady Campaign.
King is a vocal opponent of illegal immigration and opposed Senator John McCain in 2007 to enact a path to citizenship for current illegal immigrants. In 2000, King supported John McCain but later supported GW Bush, despite differences. In 2006, King was a zealous fan of the Patriot Act. He also supported the Iraq War and Obama’s order to kill Osama bin Laden.
King opposed BH Obama’s executive order to close the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp, and in 2009 argued against holding terrorist trials in New York City. King claimed that Attorney General Eric Holder was irresponsible and should resign.
King criticized the activities of WikiLeaks and in 2010 suggested that the group be designated as a terrorist organization.
In the 1970s, King actively supported the Irish republican movement and traveled to Northern Ireland to meet with senior members of the Provisional Irish Republican Army (PIRA). King stated that the British government is a murder machine.
King became involved with NORAID, an organization that the British, Irish, and US government has accused of financing IRA activities. King stated:
If civilians are killed in an attack on a military installation, it is certainly regrettable, but I will not morally blame the IRA for it.
During the murder trail of an IRA member in the 1980s, a judge in Northern Ireland ejected King from the courtroom because he was an obvious collaborator with the IRA.
In 2002, King was against the Congressional investigation of the IRA-FARC links in the Columbia Three case. In 2011, King claimed that his ties to the IRA has been entirely distorted, and claimed that if they were true the president would not have offered him the position to be ambassador of Ireland.
…no American Muslim leaders are cooperating in the war on terror. …80-85 percent of mosques in this country are controlled by Islamic fundamentalists … This is an enemy that lives among us.
He retracted that statement later stating that he meant to say:
…too many mosques in the United States do not cooperate with law enforcement.
In 2013, Peter King stated that Edward Snowden should be punished for releasing information to the American public that Verizon customers were being spied on and so should the journalists that published Snowden’s stolen classified documents.
Recently he has been taking verbal swings at Senator Rand Paul, a possible presidential candidate for 2016. Huffington Post reported that King stated that Rand Paul doesn’t deserve his spot in the Senate.
The Daily Caller, Theo Caldwell stated:
Congressman Peter King is not just a disgrace to the Republican Party, inasmuch as “safety first” politicians like him are a bipartisan disgrace to America.
Peter King is, in one sense, uniquely qualified to hold hearings on the “radicalization” of young men to a terrorist cause: He may be the only member of the United States Congress to have undergone the process himself, at the hands of the Irish Republican Army.
Crooks and Liars, another radical leftist website, claims King’s hypocrisy:
While Rep. Peter King (R-NY) busies himself holding hearings on the alleged radicalization of American Muslims, Jon Stewart suggests King’s own shady past of openly supporting the Irish Republican Army (IRA) makes him a curious choice.
Loon Watch paints King as a terrorist sympathizer, as long as they are his kind of terrorists:
Enter Rep. Peter King, friend and supporter of terrorists (as long as they are his kind of terrorists) and the anti-Muslim movement in the USA who is considering a run for the White House in 2016. While it is improbable that he would get the candidacy, crazier things have happened–like Sarah Palin.
You’ll remember Rep. Peter King (R-NY-2nd) recently saying, in September 2013, Senator Ted Cruz’s followers are a “dark stain in American political psyche.” This weekend he accused Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) of being “part of that ‘hate America crowd,” and said Senator Paul “doesn’t deserve to be in the United States Senate,” and furthermore, is a liar. Astonishing, to say the least, but it shouldn’t be. Today, although it’s been out there for a while, I’m learning of King’s support for the IRA (Irish Republican Army) which is listed as a terrorist organization in the U.K. and the RIRA (Real Irish Republican Army) in the U.S. today. Over the decades there have been IRA spin-offs that have morphed the organization into different entities. I am not clear which, if any, King DID NOT support. His paternal grandparents were immigrants from Northern Ireland. He has been an unapologetic IRA supporter, also embracing the IRA’s Islamic support, including a decades-long arrangement with Muammar Gaddafi for the supply of arms to use against Britain. He also supports Charlie Rangel.
The following video shows King takes sides with the NSA in recent revelations of government’s unconstitutional spying, interviewed after statement of Rand Paul and his plan to file lawsuit. Notice that King states that the NSA is monitored by the Department of Justice [Eric Holder] – doesn’t that make you feel better?
