Life According to Sam: Memorial to a Brave and Inspiring Teenager

Sam Berns and Parents

Sam Berns and Parents

In the animal kingdom there are species who have a short life in term of years. Homo Sapiens are sometimes born with a disease called Progeria, an extremely rare disease that promotes rapid aging. His parents, both pediatricians, founded a research center to find a cure for this debilitating disease.

The following video is about Sam Berns, made three months before his death at the age of 17, dying of old age. One of his favorite quotes (mentioned in video) is from a Walt Disney production, Meet the Robinsons:

Around here … we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things.

I thought I would pass this video [Life According to Sam] to you and maybe inspire folks who are like Sam in some way and to those who have no disabilities to respect those who do …

In memory of Sam Berns: October 23rd, 1996 to January 10th, 2014

So inspiring. I had heard about this, but never took the time to watch it. What a powerful spirit Sam had. What a tremendous soul.

  2. Totally agree, John. An inspiration for us all.
