Publishers Clearing House Products and Services

The products that you purchase from PCH is often inferior.
Warning: If you have an item that is broken or does not work as advertised or anything wrong with it, when you return it, your account will be credited for the product. You will not be reimbursed for postage, or return postage. You get reimbursed for the product cost and tax paid only.
Another way they cheat you is in postage and handling. You order three items and it is shipped in one container. They charge you shipping and handling for each separate item coming to the amount of just under $12, (even when shipped in one container) but when checking with the USPS, you find it costs when shipped in one container of that size $5.00. Even if one counted the cost of the cardboard box and paper stuffing it does not equate to $12.
For over twenty-five years my family has submitted the PCH sweep stake and prize offers and won NOTHING. The only item purchased where you cannot go wrong are when you order subscriptions to magazines.
I recommend that you do not purchase any of their advertised products. You are more apt to win something in a state-run lottery than any offer from Publisher Clearing House.

Lighthouse Report: Fuel Prices Dropping – June 2012

In a testament to the reason why fuel prices get too high, recent drop in fuel at the pump is because:
A decline in imported crude oil
Surge in refinery output

Which demonstrates that the United States must become self sufficient in producing our own crude oil and refineries need either an overhaul to meet the demand or build a new one (or two). In addition, fuel tax must have a percentage cap, lowered to the average percentage of state sales tax and remain fixed. Government – local, state, and federal; must attend to their budget, reduce cost of government rather than continually increase the tax burden upon its citizens and unfairly upon businesses that help the economy and keep unemployment down to the least amount possible.

That can only happen if our government is less intrusive and oil companies change their outlook and practices that cause fuel prices to climb (and remain) drastically.
High fuel costs is the major cause of inflation, for fuel costs that remain high are absorbed into the economic system, which in turn raises prices of food and other essential products; making it difficult for employers to meet the cost-of-living index when it comes to wages and salaries.
And, as a side note:
If the Obama administration thinks this is going to convince the American people that he has performed his job adequately, efficiently, justly, and in accordance with campaign promises in his bid for reelection – he is living in a bubble, like anyone who would believe such propaganda. I am sure that this will be an item to make Obama and company in Congress to look good, in a political attempt to ensure that Americans forget their transgressions.

Obtaining Information Concerning Recalled Products

It seems every week there is a product of some sort on recall from tainted pet food to toys with lead paint
The problem mostly seems to be with products made in China. The quality control isn’t very good; however, what happened to the inspections the government carried out to approve products for safety, et cetera?
Well, if you want to keep updated on the latest recalled products, here are a few government sites (it seems the government recalls items, but doesn’t do the initial inspection or certification that a product is safe):
Recalls.gov – US government recalls from six major federal agencies.
U.S. Food and Drug Administration – Product actions of the last 60 days that are based on distribution and degree of health risk.
Food Safety and Inspection Service – A service of the US Department of Agriculture that monitors meat, poultry, and eggs.
US Consumer Product Safety Commission – Reviews potential problems from more than 15,000 types of consumer products.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration – This agency recalls motor vehicles, child safety devices, tires, et cetera.
US Coast Guard – Recalls for defects on boats made or imported into the United States.
US Environmental Protection Agency – This agency monitors potential problems caused by pesticides, among other things concerning our environment.
